a book review: living life in the zone by kyle rote jr. and dr. joe pettigrew

I review for BookSneeze

Living Life in the Zone, a paperback with 329 pages, is a 40-day game plan for men.

Divided into several chapters:
how do you know when you are living life in the zone?
Finding the zone in your relationship with your wife
Finding the zone in your relationship with your children
Finding the zone in your relationship with your friends
Finding the zone at work, and lastly
Finding the zone as you look into the future

Each chapter is subdivided into seven categories:
Thoughts of the day
The coaches’ corner
The game plan (quotes from the bible)
Playmakers (real-life examples)
Time-out (questions to reflect on)
Today’s assignment, and
Home-field advantage (praises and worries to bring before God)

What  others have to say about this book:

“ how do you balance your life; how do you stay in the zone? You stay strong in your Christian beliefs and make it the focal point of your life.  I highly recommend Living Life In the Zone to you; you won’t be sorry. Don’t miss it!”
-          Lee Corso
Analyst, ESPN College GameDay

“…take this forty-day journey and watch how your life takes on new purpose and brings you truly great victories.”
-          Les Steckel
FCA president and author,

My two cent’s worth:

For a book that falls under the spiritual, selp-help headings, I love the fact that I find this less intimidating compared to its contemporary.  The format is very interesting and will actually engage the readers from start to finish.  The use of lovely and vivid metaphors, plus setting it amidst a very popular topic amongst men, sports, and the mere mention of popular sporting personalities, such as Michael Jordan, my fave Scottie Pippen, Sir Charles Barkley, Coaches Tony Dungy (Indianapolis Colts), Bobby Bowden (Florida States University), John Daly, Larry Bird to name a few makes this book a winner, appealing to men of all shapes, colors and background.

The format is very easy to read, and the program seems very easy to follow too. Two thumbs up and I’ll recommend it as a Christmas present for all the men in your life.
