music monday: a beautiful lie by 30 seconds to mars

this week i would like to share this song, a beautiful lie (lyrics here) by 30 seconds to mars. this band is comprised of brothers jared + shannon leto + guitarist Tomo Miličević. i've only listened several times to a couple of songs by this band (the rest of the album lay untouched on my ipod) but every time i do, it was like they'd inspire you to do good in the world + to make something worthwhile of yourself, it's epic! in this song, they lent their creativity to address climate change + nature degradation in the world today. you would also like to check out their cool rendition of lady gaga's bad romance.

 

why the band name:

"For us, the name 30 Seconds To Mars has little to do with space, the universe or anything like that. It is a name that works on several different levels. Most importantly, it is a good representation of our sound. It's a phrase that is lyrical, suggestive, cinematic, and filled with immediacy. It has some sense of otherness to it. The concept of space is so overwhelming and all encompassing I doubt there is a song written that doesn't fall within it."~ Jared Leto

in lay man's term, they got it from an online thesis with a chapter aptly named "30 seconds to mars" indicating our physical distance from our neighboring planet.
